I know, I know. I am one dramatic woman. And as I type this I am laughing at myself. Have you ever put someone in the friend zone? Have you ever been put in the friend zone?
In the past few years this phrase "The Friend Zone" has become synonymous with a black hole of sorts, or maybe relationship purgatory. The warming drawer. The waiting room.
For some, it is a place where potential relationships die, and for others it is where a romantic interest places you to wait indefinitely until...
But I think the friend zone is the most beautiful place on earth! I know, I know. Over the top again. lol
But think about it. Where is friendship born? The friend zone. Where is trust born? The friend zone. Where does a relationship develop? The friend zone. Where do you find loyalty? The friend zone. Where is love born? The friend zone.
Never again do I want a relationship that doesn't begin and spend a significant amount of time in the friend zone. It is where it becomes battle tested and quality controlled. You know what you've got when you are in the friend zone. Outside of that you have an often unregulated highway where people speed through relationships until they crash and lots of people get hurt.
My platonic male friendships have taught me so much about life and even about relationships. They are honest friendships that help me to sort out my feelings and understand the dynamics of this new life I have that a romantic relationship could never do for me at this point.
Nobody has time for heartache and heartbreak. I think we could all do better to consider the golden value of developing our friendships first rather than rushing into "love". Our future will thank us.
